We loved the private onsen rooms - spacious and very relaxing. The public hot springs were also amazing. The hotel had good facilities and was very clean. The location in the mountains by the beautiful river was excellent. Staff were helpful and breakfast was great.

We stayed in a hotel close to Kawayu Onsen and enjoyed the great meals they served. The hotel had a spacious room and great service. They also had free private baths that we loved, and a shuttle service to the Kumamo Kodo pilgrimage. The hotel was a great base for short trips.

The English information was unclear and not easy to follow. We had trouble finding the location of the souvenirs store and had to go into Hongu instead.

The hot spring at Watarase Onsen Hotel Yamayuri was absolutely amazing. We had the opportunity to try one of the private springs and it was a truly traditional and relaxing experience. The staff was friendly and accommodating, providing quick service when we had an issue with the room. Although there were limited dining options around Hongu, the hotel's restaurant was a decent choice. The beautiful surroundings and crisp country air made our stay at this authentic haven memorable. I highly recommend this hotel for a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway.
